I found these two photographs in an antique shop in Coldspring, NY.

This one is very reminiscent of Anders Petersen’s work, a Swedish-born photographer.

I was quite mesmerized by the following picture when I saw it.  The writing on the back reads 1946g  Nasauts Fanis Ceplits (translation anyone?)  This looks like a village somewhere in Romania and I’d like to think that this man was quite a big shot to have an entire village come out and take this last photograph with him.  It also reminded me of old Soviet funerals where an open body casket would be carried from a person’s home through the streets.  An entire procession would follow with a melancholy marching band in the front and relatives throwing flowers on the ground along the path in the back.  I’ve observed quite a few of those growing up and they were always incredibly sad and a touch surreal.
